Remember: Dry eyes are mainly caused by a deficiency in the lipid layer of the tear film^4,5

A) Optrex ActiMist™ Eye Spray is sprayed onto closed eyelids. It contains liposomes (tiny lipid particles) that migrate across the surface of the eyelid and collect at the edges of the eye.^14,15

B) The liposomes start to mix with natural lipids that are present here.¹²

C) When the eye opens, with a few blinks the new lipid mixture is spread over the whole tear film. This stabilises the lipid layer and the tear film is effectively repaired, allowing the balance of moisture in the eye to be restored.

How Artificial Tears work (e.g. hypromellose)
Artificial tears don’t contain liposomes – they are mainly water. They lubricate the eye offering temporary symptom relief.¹⁶ When applied, much of the liquid quickly drains away. Without an intact lipid layer, the eyes’ remaining moisture can still escape, and eyes may soon feel dry and irritated again.¹²
